Jung Bergo is an independent rock band from Scranton Pennsylvania. The band’s eclectic sound is a blending of folk and alternative country, with the familiar hallmarks of pop rock of the 60’s and 70s.
The band has shared the stage with national acts such as The Struts, Walk the Moon, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Matt and Kim, Bleachers and more.
Formed in 2008 by best friends and college roommates Jeremy Burke and David Connors, the group has become a vehicle for the writing partners ever growing catalogue.
With Burke on guitar and vocals and Connors handling bass duties, the duo quickly turned quartet with the inclusion of Jeremy’s brother, multi-instrumentalist Jeff Burke (Mourningstar; Gypsum Choi) and drummer Corey Buckley.
The band cut it’s teeth performing throughout the North East in support of their albums, 2013’s “Thieves” produced by Bret Alexander (The Badlees; Gentleman East) and 2016’s “Everything New is Old Again” the latter of which was awarded album of the year at the Steamtown Music Awards.
With various personnel changes over the last decade, today Jung Bergo features Bradley Phillip Parks (Kids On Bikes) and James Naylor (Moonbagg; Tony Halchak Band) rounding out the group on guitar and drums respectively.
The band released their latest EP, “JB” at the beginning of 2023. Recorded and produced by Eric Ritter at Windmill Agency, the six song offering finds the group exploring themes of loss, grief, and the often conflicting feelings of a life after. Featuring performances by multi-instrumentalist Shawn Caden (the Dishonest Fiddlers; Rogue Chimp) adding layers of guitar, keys, and more, as well as Roy Williams (Brother Roy; South Side Five) providing lush pedal steel heard on half of the record, “JB” finds the band existing rather comfortably in their new sonic territory.
